Sales Presentations That Sell
By AlexAnndra Ontra
Sitting through a painful PowerPoint presentation with slide-after-slide-after-slide of sophomoric clip art and cumbersome sentences disguised as bullet points have become the norm in today’s business world. It’s a crutch at meetings, a security blanket for the sales and marketing professional and sometimes a sleeping pill for the audience, which usually is a perspective client. Yes, it may tell a story or outline a solution, but does a presentation really close a deal? The answer is, it sure could help. Entire article...

Making your (Power) Point ---- Presentation Awards ----- Best For… The "WOW" factor
By Ellen Neuborne
Cool Features: In addition to the standard charts and text, Ontra allows users to easily incorporate video, audio, and animation and can make a presentation seem more like network television than the standard slide show. Ontra can work alongside PowerPoint, or replace it entirely.
In Action: Sales execs at Tribune Entertainment rely on flashy presentations to help convince national advertisers to purchase time on its syndicated programming. In the past, that often required using a laptop computer, a VHS player, a DVD player, and a monitor. Ontra combines standard informational slides with digitized video clips--and the entire presentation runs off a single laptop. "Now that we're not trying to juggle three machines and all their moving parts, we can focus on giving our pitch," says Clark Morehouse, a senior vice president.

Manage corporate slide decks...with an alternative to PowerPoint.
By Mark Hall
James Ontra, CEO of Ontra Presentations LLC in New York, thinks there's a better way to equip business folks with tools for presenting corporate data: Use a slide collection that's built on a centrally controlled database. That's the key difference between his company's PowerPoint-compatible Ontra Presenter software and Microsoft Corp. 's ubiquitous product. Presenter lets end users access a central database of slides and arrange or even alter them as needed. Slides can then be stored locally on laptops and get updated with the latest information from the central repository via a mouse click, Ontra says. He calls presentation tools "the missing piece of CRM." In fact, by year's end, he plans to integrate Presenter with CRM offerings such as Siebel applications and Salesforce.com Inc.'s hosted software. Subscription pricing starts at $250 per month for five end users.

The presenters’ toolbox
Ontra Presentations 4.1, a presentation management suite, turns your computer or office network into a user-friendly warehouse for all of your sales teams, brochures, presentations, and a/v sales and marketing
collateral. The system enables your sellers to search and recall only the most relevant and up-to-date content from your virtual Ontra presentation library to quickly and easily organize and build sales presentations. Ontra also lets users incorporate just about any kind of content into a presentation: PDFs, spread sheets, Web pages, multimedia audio and sound, and more. “A large and disorganized sales force hurts internal communication and communication with customers,” said Alex Anndra, president and co-founder of Ontra Presentations. “[This] keeps the entire sales force organized… and on the same page.”

Tech firm profits in giant's shadow
By Frances Cerra Whittelsey
Three years ago, siblings James and AlexAnndra Ontra did something that might have appeared crazy. They raised money from friends and family to restart a company that had been cut adrift by its original venture capital backers and whose only product competed directly with Microsoft's ubiquitous PowerPoint presentation software.

On Your Mark, Get Set, Pitch
By AlexAnndra Ontra
The demands of raising venture capital are grueling for any CEO and or executive team. A road show, it seams, of never-ending presentations. Yet, during the short time in front of would-be investors, it is essential to not only to communicate the value proposition, but do it in a way that grabs attention, gets them involved and immediately helps to close the deal.

Not Your Father’s Presentation Software:
By Steve Raddock, Multichannel News
For the vast majority of local TV salespeople,
Powerpoint is pretty much the standard in presentation technology. But 37 broadcast TV stations
owned by ABC, NBC and Telemundo have discovered an alternative they refer to as “Powerpoint on steroids”
